More than 70,000 cases of sexual assault on female soldiers in the US military in a year

أكثر من 70 ألف واقعة اعتداء جنسي على مجندات في الجيش الأمريكي خلال عام

The Pentagon revealed that more than 70,000 sexual assaults on American female soldiers took place in one year, according to a local media source.

"In 2016 alone, 8,000 and 600 female recruits have been sexually assaulted several times," the Fox News website quoted an annual ministry report as saying.

Over the past year, 6,000 and 400 recruits have been subjected to similar attacks, bringing the total number of sexual assaults on female soldiers and recruits to 70,000, according to the same source.

"His client was raped by several unidentified men in one incident when she was serving in the US military," said the lawyer of one of the victims, who was not named.

He denounced, according to "Fox News", the position of officials in the US military of those facts.

"I saw the worst cases of suffering in light of the army's failure to find adequate and adequate punishment for the aggressors, to help survivors cope with their trauma," he said.

In 2015, the Pentagon received 6,000 reports of sexual abuse, a figure similar to what was reported in 2014.

According to the Ministry's report, the figures for 2014 and 2015 represent a sharp increase compared with the cases reported in 2012, which reached 3,604 cases.
