Everywhere Donald Trump goes, it seems there’s a crowd there waiting — to tell him to go away. From the protests to his inauguration on, Trump’s arrival at every major event has been heralded by people holding signs and banner, chanting slogans, and demanding that he leave office and leave the world alone.
In fact, it seems like we’re always hearing news about some different people or place the found a new way to reject the horrendous American president, from the global protests that broke out after Trump pulled America out of the Paris Climate Treaty to the citizens of Britain unequivocally demanding he not be let in to the country, let alone for a State Visit with the Queen.
And now Trump is arriving in Davos, Switzerland, where he will be addressing a world economic forum. It’s a gathering of global elites, and one that American presidents don’t usually attend — since it’s seen as exactly that: A bunch of rich snobs who are basically flaunting the fact that they control the world economy with their fickle fiscal policies and lack of concern for the poor and economically disadvantaged.
But the Swiss aren’t letting anyone down in the protest department.
Aside from the gatherings in the streets where people loudly decried the arrogant US leader, it looks like some enterprising Swiss protesters found a way to really drive their message home. They put up a huge banner on the side of a mountain near Sargans, Switzerland. Although it’s not in Davos itself, Trump is sure to see it either from his airplane window, or through the hours and hours of television he consumes every day.
The group that put up the banner is called Campax, and they’re criticizing Trump because he “stands for racism, Islamophobia, anti-Semitism, sexism, hostility towards women, warfare, denial of climate change, attacks on human rights and a policy that deepens poverty and inequality.”
Here’s the banner as Trump will see it while flying overhead:
Congratulations to Campax for successfully putting up the biggest protest banner against Trump the world has seen so far. Trump has already been utterly bewitched by the protests against him before he even arrived, and he’s surely sitting in a hotel room right now, thinking up the next offensive thing to say in response.
