The Mirror quoted fire department representatives in New York City as confirming that the fire broke out on the upper floors of the skyscraper tower known as the Trump Tower.
The site said emergency workers were still fighting flames on the scene, trying to control the flames and prevent their spread elsewhere.
The emergency department in the city announced that the accident was caused by electrical contact, and that two people injured in the accident were taken to hospital, one seriously.
