The New York Stock Exchange is in talks to buy the Chicago bourse a month and a half after US regulators refused to sell the Chicago bourse to an alliance of Chinese investors, the Wall Street Journal reported.
The New York Stock Exchange could pay about $ 70 million to the Chicago bourse, the paper quoted knowledgeable people as saying.
The Chicago Mercantile Exchange declined to comment, while the New York Stock Exchange did not respond to a request for comment.
The Chicago Mercantile Exchange said earlier this month it was looking for potential new buyers after the US Securities and Exchange Commission rejected a $ 25 million deal in February to end a two-year bid for the Chicago bourse to sell itself to an alliance of Chinese investors.
